(888) 644-6099Detox services, whether in Michigan or anywhere else, are based on the specific needs of each patient and should always start with a medical assessment that looks at the nature of the addiction, along with the physical and mental health of the patient. This is the first service that should be expected.
Once the assessment is complete, the next thing to expect is a prescription for a detox treatment plan. This will likely include medications that help ease the detox process, along with some type of concurrent rehab. This may include partial hospitalization that will help the most serious cases better manage their way through the withdrawal process.
While it isn’t always the case, most detox/rehab programs in Michigan are medication-assisted. They most commonly use Methadone, Suboxone, Subutex or Vivitrol. The course of treatment is normally recommended at a minimum of 90 days, and this is regardless of whether this will be an inpatient or outpatient recover plan.
Detox programs can also be expected to provide counselling, group and individual therapies, and access to peer support groups. Also, programs are most commonly based on a 12-Step detox and rehab approach to deliver a treatment outcome that meets expectations and that lasts.
Drug and alcohol additions are rarely about substance abuse without any underlying or contributing factors. These are more often, complex conditions that involve contributing physical and psychological conditions. This means that a detox program must be more than just weaning a patient of drugs or alcohol since doing so would fail address the whole of the problem.
This is where holistic drug and alcohol treatment in Michigan comes to the fore. This approach starts by looking for contributing factors, sometimes referred to as dual diagnosis or co-occurring conditions. What these exams help uncover are those contributors that must be part of a holistic detox/rehab treatment plan that can stand the test of time.
The cost of a detox program in Michigan starts out with the cost of the medications that will be used to ease the patient from addiction to sober living. They can come free for some but generally, they cost somewhere between a low of $20 per month and a high of $400 per month. This is regardless of the treatment setting.
The next component of a detox program is determined by the setting. In an outpatient setting, costs are generally limited to the cost of the medically that have been prescribed. In an inpatient setting, there are additional costs for therapies, as well as room and board. These inpatient costs will range between $658 and $7,050 per month. They average cost is right around $4,000 per month in a private clinic and $2,300 in a non-profit center.
Any program that is run by an accredited detox center will likely be eligible for insurance coverage when that insurance provides addiction recovery. In this case, the majority of the cost, maybe as much as 80% or 90% will either be paid directly by the insurance carrier or will be reimbursed.
There are clear differences in the success rate for inpatient programs, as opposed to outpatient programs. This is mostly due to the more regimented approach to detox/rehab that can be followed in an inpatient setting. Outcomes have higher recovery rates, and more importantly, they have lower relapse rates.
This isn’t to suggest that outpatient programs don’t work. It is absolutely to opposite. They do offer a clear path to recovery, including the same medication-assisted treatment approach and all of the same supporting therapies, so there is every reason to expect a good result. They just require a stronger commitment by the patient and a greater level of support from those around them.
