Additionally, outpatient care is best suited to those that have a strong network of family and friends that are prepared to help keep them focused on their recovery.

Inpatient care is advised for those that are heavily addicted, especially to things like stimulants. It is also advised for those that have either failed to compete an earlier detox attempt or have relapsed into addiction. This is also best for those that need the privacy an inpatient setting offers. It is still very helpful for the patient to have a strong network of family and friends to help them along the way, but it is less critical in an inpatient environment where everything is constantly monitored.
